Sebrok: The Pain Remixes Part 1

Last year welcomed the debut album from Sebrok. Having steadily built a reputation with stunning releases for labels including SCI+TEC, Minisketch, Ideal and Octopus, it was time for the Paso Music label boss to return home with his fresh, 2 disc selection.

Kick-starting 2011 is Sebrok’s forthcoming remix package of his warmly received debut, ‘The Pain Remixes Part 1’. Out February 22nd, the release boasts a fine blend of remixes and newly crafted compositions of Sebrok’s own material.

First up is Christian Smith with his take on the title track ‘The Pain’. Smith entangles some serious electronic grooves, layering short bursts of percussion – crisp bongo beats – over a throbbing bassline, filtered drops and the original’s vocal to create one smooth track.

Paso recording artist, Martin Woerner brings his own brand of tough yet percussive techno to ‘Don’t Forget To Go Home’. This track is certainly one to get the crowd moving with it’s deep driving rhythm incorporating elements of minimal tech’s bleeps and squeaks.

Closing the record is Irish born globetrotter, Sian with his “Numb” take on ‘Feel It’. Sian’s enviable ability to move from the darkest techno to the freshest house in his productions brought him much success throughout 2010. His “Numb” remix leaves us anything but as the track builds to culminate in an expansive mixture of bubbling and sweeping synths.
