Eliphino drops another classic slice of wax for new label ‘somethinksounds’.
Eliphino A.K.A Tom Wrankmore is definitely one to watch out for in 2011. In this latest release, which follows the brilliant ‘Let Me Love You Forever’, Tom brings us four more fantastic productions. The ‘Undivided Whole’ EP, released on ‘somethinksounds’, a new label by the guys at Culture Magazine ‘somethinkblue’, is dance floor electronica par excellence. House, bass, garage and funk combine in production, as much influenced by jazz as it is jungle!
‘You’ll know’ kicks off the A side with snappy yet haunting vocals and crisp percussion. The garage-like groove leads us head-on into a full sub-bass assault. ‘L F’ continues along similar lines, but with more synth lines and a deeper groove. The snappy drums and deep moving bass-line are sure-fire hit with any forward thinking dance floor.
On the B ‘Condensation’ brings a similarly emotive, future sound but this time is rapped up in a four four groove. The deep house heads who like to think out side the box will feel this one. ‘I Just Cant’ finishes off the EP with a bang. More haunting vocals, and trade mark percussion. However, this time a monster of a bass note throbs its way through the track, it’s like being chased by a big bear, but the bear doesn’t wanna eat you, it just wants to party!
