Dudley Strangeways: Into Deep (Back to You)

The chaps over at ‘Back to the Future Recordings’ have been supplying quality house music for a few years now, so when we heard of a new project on the horizon we thought we better take a look.

This first release on ‘Back to You’ is from label boss man Dudley Strangeways with remixes from the ever brilliant Martin Dawson and new Visonquest signing Matthew Burton. The title track from Stangeways brings the kind of crisp production you’d expect from a man with such experience in the game. It’s a tough ask to get the sharp and clean sound of today’s dance floor while still maintaining soul, but with hypnotic deep chords, subtle drums and some nice strings the original does just that.

Dawson (who I think has got some new Two Armadillos stuff at the moment as well) steps things up a notch and gets the original a bit more twisted. There’s still the deepness but now its jacked up like its been in the gym for a few weeks. This is gonna be your peak-time version.

The final mix comes from hot as you like Burton, yes the man who’s been doing RA podcasts with Kate Rathrod, a track with Nick Lawson on Visonquests and regular parties at Berlin’s Club der Visionaere. This one is perfect for that waterside venue, meandering along on its own path with a really subtle mix, occasionally detouring and in no rush to return to its original course.

The EP concludes with another original from Strangeways. ‘Big Brother’ does away with some of the deepness and brings the records to a finish in an forthright fashion.
