Buraka Som Sistema @ XOYO
The fearsome Buraka Som Sistema take over London’s XOYO for a special one-off show on Saturday 29th January as the group are in town for a recording session to work on material for their new album due out this summer.
Buraka Som Sistema consists of producers Lil’ John, Riot and Conductor, with MC Kalaf but count amongst their ranks an extended family of dancers and MC’s from around the globe. In just three years the group have released critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Black Diamond’, a slew of breakthrough singles and wowed audiences all over the world with a mesmerising, dance-driven live show!
Buraka have invited two acts to appear at their London gig who they have been supporting through their own Enchufada label. This will be the first time Diamond Bass and Paus grace the big smoke…
Diamond Bass is already making a name for himself with DJ sets infusing traditional African and Brazilian sounds with house music. His remix of J-Wow’s ‘Fogo’ received great feedback from Clash Mag, XLR8R and Juno.
Paus are a live act using a “Siamese drum kit” – two kits joined together with a shared bass drum. They make driving, heavy beats with layered synths and compelling vocals.
