Aus Music returns with the much anticipated Ramadanman and Appleblim single ‘Void 23’, which comes complete with a re-edit from Carl Craig…
Hessle Audio co-runner, Ramadanman, and Applepips head honcho, Appleblim, join forces to bring us an electrifying production. One that infuses futuristic samples with the terrestrial quality of classic techno.
I first heard this track whilst listening to Damian Lazarus’ new Fabric compilation. An ear-catching element was the contrasting yet complimenting blend of percussion and synth use, creating an uneasy ambiance. This tension, born of the producers roots in dubstep, eventually gives way to a tribal influenced techno groove. Time and time again the track builds upon dark, electronic sounds that culminate in a pulsing yet melodic percussive rhythm.
And it doesn’t stop there. The EP features a re-edit from one of the cornerstones of electronic music – Carl Craig.
For the B side, Craig seems to have changed the rhythm structure of the original track to enable it to work in peak time house and techno settings. He plays on the earthly, tribal aspects of the composition to encourage a more energetic pace for the dance floor.
