Joy Orbison: Wade In

Joy Orbison is back on Hotflush with his first release of 2011.

This double A side, due out March 21st, takes a more straight forward 4×4 course than some of O’Grady’s more well now pieces. Fans needn’t be worried though; his signature sound still comes boldly through the mix.

‘Wade In’ is a take on a classic house composition and twists in the some serious electronica. Pots and pans percussion fit around the kind of smooth synth work you would expect from a man like Joy O. My head kept nodding for ages after this track finished.

‘Jels’ takes this same house/techno format and gives it a subtle flip. Deep vocals and Roland drums shuffle along at a considerable pace. Expect this one find it’s was into all of the big techno player’s record bags.

Not what I expected from O’Grady’s first outing of 2011 – but its bloody ace!
